Jason Lemkin - Echosign

When we founded Echosign in the middle of 2005, we saw almost every small business using the Internet – but they were primarily using it for email and not much more. We thought that things were going to evolve a long way from there.

Our vision was to help businesses put more and more of their business processes online, and especially the vital last step – closing the deal and getting the contracts signed and delivered.

Now, in 2009, companies are using more and more web applications from Gmail and Google Docs to sophisticated products like Salesfore.com and, of course, Echosign.

But the more of your business you move online, the more vital it is to have fast, omnipresent access to the Internet. If your entire business process depends on online connectivity, having the best-possible access is incredibly important.

That’s why we’re excited about the possibilities that Next Generation Access opens up for ourselves and our customers. For us, it means we can create more sophisticated web applications, ones which replicate the look and feel of paper with even better user interfaces. Next Generation Access means we can do some really beautiful things!

For our customers, it means they can put their business online, getting the security and other business benefits of cloud applications and it will work as snappily as desktop software, even if they are running lots of cloud applications at the same time.

The next few years are going to be really exciting ones for small businesses, and we think that online business applications along with Next Generation Access are going to be key parts of that. These are really exciting times!
