Ted Griggs - CEO, Ribbit

At Ribbit, we’re very excited about the possibilities that next generation access opens up for ourselves and our customers.

The trend we are seeing in business is towards software as a service, and that includes voice. More and more services are moving into the cloud, replacing traditional modes of communication. Take a look at what kids are doing – they communicate in different ways, and they represent the future for us all. For them, there’s little difference between reaching someone by SMS, phone, IM, or Facebook – it’s all about connecting with someone.

The key question for us is “what kinds of services can companies make when next generation access becomes common?” Ribbit is a great example of a technology platform which will allow people to do incredible new things with next generation access. Faster access means more new, inventive and exciting voice services that companies can build with Ribbit.

Next generation access is part of the reason we can start to rethink the ways in which we communicate from the ground up, making them more effective in the process. When you have the bandwidth, it’s no longer just about having a call or sending a message – it’s about using the this always-on network in new ways. We can’t predict the future, but we know that it’s going to be very exciting.
