MED-EL UK Ltd reduces unnecessary travel with mobile working

Cassandra Brown is Managing Director of MED-EL UK Ltd, a company which makes cochlear and middle ear implants - special hearing devices for hearing impaired children and adults. As with many MDs, Cassandra’s diary is fraught and while travel plays a central part of her day-to-day routine, smarter working through Wireless Broadband (Wi-Fi) is helping to reduce unnecessary travel time.

Cassandra said: “The ability to work anytime, anyplace through Wi–Fi has positive benefits for the environment. From an individual perspective it means less travel time as you can easily work wherever you are, whether that’s in a hotel, local cafe or Wi-Fi-enabled city centre, as well as access to information without the need to return to the office. From an employer’s perspective we are now able to have our team meetings offsite, instead of dragging all our field staff up to the office, which is an overnight trip for some staff. We can meet in a central location by train, all getting work done on the way, and being able to have Wi-Fi access during our meeting allows us to immediately action items as well as access vital information.”
