Away-days hamper SMEs

Over half of UK business decision makers spend a minimum of five hours a week out of the office according to new research.

The study found that 60% of small business directors and managers spend 32.5 working days out of the office a year. Combined with average holiday entitlement of 25 days this adds up to well over two months.

Dragon’s Den star James Caan explained that with more people out of the office communication is crucial.

‘Myself and my team are now more reliant than ever on our ability to communicate with each other and our customers on the move,’ he said. ‘It’s not until you actually add up all the time spent out of the office that you realise it has the potential to put a real strain on business resources.’
