Companies are now able to track their carbon footprint with a meter to monitor their environmental efficiency, thanks to Xerox.
Marketed as ‘an effective environmental assessment tool’, the sustainability calculator has the ability to measure the waste and greenhouse gas emissions of document technology, including printers and photocopiers. With this knowledge, firms can identify specific areas to target and shrink their carbon footprint to save money in the long term.
Refuting claims that the product is merely a publicity stunt, Xerox has pointed out the compatibility of the calculator with other copiers and multi-functioning printer manufacturers and that it will increase environmental awareness within the workplace.
President of Xerox Global Services North America, John Kelly, explains: “People who are environmentally conscious at home are starting to bring this awareness to work, but in many cases they don’t know where to start.”
Xerox joins HD video supplier Iocom who launched green initiative AIM FM; a system that gauges the amount of carbon dioxide a client has saved in plane and car fuel, by holding a meeting online instead.
