The Federation of Small Businesses is pleading with the Government to act on the Glover Review and improve small business access to government contracts.
On average only 16% of government contracts are awarded to small businesses, but the FSB is hoping that the government will take note of small businesses and increase the channels of communication and simplify the process of winning the contacts.
Clive Davenport, FSB Trade and Industry Chairman, said: ‘The FSB welcomes the Glover review’s recommendations to reduce the barriers small firms experience when bidding for government contracts. Small businesses offer great value to our communities, especially in these difficult economic times, and by using small businesses, money is kept within the local economy; a key policy of our Keep Trade Local campaign.’
By implementing the Glover recommendations the FSB believes that small businesses will be able to increase their chances of winning a substantial share of the £175 billion spent annually on public contracts.
