UK businesses are demanding more IT and communications staff, with employment requests being the highest since 2001 according to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).
During the third quarter of last year around one million IT staff were in work in the UK, despite a decrease in average salaries.
The research also found that last year saw a rise in employed IT workers searching for new jobs, with 59,000 looking to move.
For this year the REC predicts a rise in demand for systems administrators and sales support staff.
